Testing/Diagnosis for Diabetic Neuropathy:
Diagnosis of Diabetic Neuropathy usually depends on the patient's symptoms, full medical history, physical examination and tests. The physical examination may include checking of muscle tone and reflexes and verifying symptoms for Diabetic Neuropathy. Sensory testing of temperature, touch and vibrations is also done. The neurological examination would include checking of nerve stimuli and sensations.
Tests:
- Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) test employs electrodes to check the signalling down a nerve pathway.
- Electromyography (EMG) shows how well and effectively the muscles are receiving nerve signals.
