Preksha Rajendra, 27, is on the autism spectrum, lives in Bengaluru, works as a developer, remembers car numbers and loves to run. Read PatientsEngage interview with her #AutismAwarenessWeek
Preksha, tell us a bit about yourself.
I am Preksha, 27 years old diagnosed with autism when I was 4.5 years.
Where did you study and grow up?
I studied in Carmel school till standard 3. Later I studied in ATMASHAKTI Vidyalaya. I’m from Bengaluru and live with my mother and my doggy Buddy.
Where do you work and what do you do?
I have worked at SAP for 4 years in the testing team. Now I am working at Exarcplus in the developing team.
What is your strength?
I remember car numbers of all my friends.
What are the challenges you face?
I like to mingle with everybody but cannot have long conversations. I take time to respond.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to play word search and 100 plus piece zigsaw puzzle in my free time. I always listen to western retro music and Kannada songs. I also like Ghulam Ali and Jagjit Singh ghazals. I’m a foodie also.
What motivated you to train for the half marathon? Do you enjoy running?
Running is my passion. I am part of a very lovely running group called Jayanagar Jaguars where everyone loves running with me. I have many medals completing many 10ks. I’m training for half marathon. I run, swim, cycle and go to gym regularly.
Tell us about your relationship with friends and colleagues
I have many friends at work and everyone likes me.
What do you wish for or look forward to?
I love to travel and take vacations. I love nature.
